How NCT cancellation alerts work

How it works

You type your reg

We look it up on ncts.ie and show your car, the NCT due date and whether the certificate is valid, so you can see we are looking at the right vehicle. If a test now would count as voluntary (more than 90 days before the due date) we say so.

You pick up to five centres and a deadline

Tap the dots on the map. The colour shows how far away the next free date is at each centre right now. The deadline is the last day a test is useful to you, usually the day your certificate runs out.

You pay €9.99 once

Stripe handles the card. Alerts switch on the moment payment clears and run for 30 days. Nothing renews. Alerts start at once, so the 14-day cooling-off period does not apply; if ncts.ie stops answering us for a day or more, your plan is extended by the time lost.

We watch

Every minute from 7am to 11pm, every five minutes overnight, we re-read the booking calendars of your centres on ncts.ie using your registration, the same way you would in a browser tab.

You get an email, you book

When a date on or before your deadline appears, one email goes out within the minute: the centre, the date and time, how much sooner it is than what the centre showed before, the ncts.ie link and three short steps. If several of your centres move in the same minute, they share one email, earliest first. Enter your reg, choose the centre, take the slot. Cancellations go fast, so keep notifications on.

What we do not do

We do not book, pay, or hold appointments. NCTS does not allow third parties to book on your behalf and warns against sites that offer to. Every alert brings you to ncts.ie, where you make the booking yourself with your own details. We have no connection to NCTS, Applus+ or the RSA.

Why the registration

ncts.ie shows appointment calendars only after a registration is entered. Yours lets us read the calendar exactly as you would see it. We also read the due date, so the site can warn you when an earlier test would count as voluntary and move your due date. The registration is stored with your alert and deleted 60 days after the alert ends.

What counts as an alert

An appointment that was not on a centre’s calendar at the previous read and now is, and that fits your filters: on or before your deadline, and if you set them, not before your earliest date, inside your time window, on your days of the week. Two different cars must see a new day before we send it, so a car that has just failed a test cannot make its private re-test dates look like cancellations. There is no cap on alerts; the only thing that holds an email back is your quiet hours, and what appeared overnight and is still free comes in one email when they end.
